Disability is one of the significant social and economic setbacks in Bangladesh. According to the Department of Social Services of Peoples Republic Bangladesh, more than 7% of the country’s total population is disabled. We believe it is possible to make this large population efficient without neglecting, underestimating but through proper planning and care.

CHILD Foundation started Project “Shopno Sarothi” at 2019 with the aim to empower special need individuals by providing them training and practical skills, increasing their self-confidence and their trust in their abilities, integrating them into the regular work market, and enhancing their opportunities to contribute for the society.

In 2020, CHILD Foundation collaborated with Deshal one of the renowned brands in Bangladeshi fashion market, intending to empower 10 special need individuals. In February 2020, we jointly organized an art and design workshop to fine-tune their unique artistic skill. We were surprised to see their extraordinarily unpredictable expression of art. After that workshop, Deshal decided to start a new product line titled “Shopno Sarothi” with these special peoples beautiful, pure and innocent designs.

Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the launch of the product was delayed. But this year 2021, finally, we got the opportunity to launch the product line on a small scale. Deshal decided to share 20% of the sales made with these 10 specially-abled designers.
