CHILD foundation organizes a walkathon every year under the name “Walk for Autism Awareness “. This year CHILD foundation had organized this walk for the second time with the view of public awareness and aim towards individuals with autism who are most neglected in our society. The peoples and organizations with autism and other special needs had been invited to participate in this walk. The goal of this event is to create mass awareness and promote a more understanding, compassionate and inclusive society where individuals with autism can reach their fullest potential. Various corporations, academics institutions & social organizations joined the walk to support the cause. Many special need service providers, special need schools & vocations training institutes gave stalls to showcase their services for the special need community. This event was graced by our honorable chief guest minister of Social Welfare Mr. Nuruzzaman Ahmed. Also, many government high officials and employees, various media’s respected individuals, artists, all sections of society’s peoples and professions were present for this cause. Special Olympics Bangladesh also participated with a stall to promote success stories of their athletes and also encourage others to join. Any parent, friend or family in need of special need services had access to all of these resources by attending the walkathon. Prior arrangements are made to ensure the walk is accessible with wheelchair and safe for all special need individuals. In addition to live music, cultural performances by special need individuals. In addition to live music, Cultural performances by special need individuals are also organized. Many students of various government and non-government universities played the role of volunteer in the whole event. The main objective of this initiative was that the individuals with special need are not the outside of the society and they deserve equal participation in all level of society. Not only awareness is not enough, we have to build them, they are ours, brothers, sisters, friends and neighbors. In an effort to create an inclusive society, we all have to more compassionate and caring for this community.
