Dr. Peishi Wang is an Associate Professor of Special Education in the Department of Educational and Community Programs at Queens College, City University of New York. She joined the faculty of the Special Education Program in 2006 and has been the program coordinator since 2010. She received her MA from Gallaudet University in Deaf Education with a concentration in early childhood special education; and Ph.D. from Columbia University, She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst – at the Doctoral Level (BCBA-D) and holds permanent certification in special education from New York State.
Dr. Wang has over 20 years of experience in working with infants, toddlers, and preschool children with disabilities and their families. Her research focuses on families of young children with developmental delays, language acquisition in young children with special needs, evidence-based social skills interventions for children with autism, preparing pre-service early childhood special education teachers to work with children and families from diverse backgrounds, and cross-cultural comparison studies in parenting young children with special needs. Her work has been published in top-tier peer reviewed journals, such as, Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorder, Education and Training in Autism and Developmental Disabilities, Journal of Research and Practice for Persons with Severe Disabilities, etc. In 2015, she co-edited the first book on the conditions of education for children with autism in the People’s Republic of China.
Currently, Dr. Wang is the Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Pl of two highly competitive teacher training grants (totaling $2.5 million) funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. CHILD Foundation is honored to have Dr. Peishi Wang as a part of our team. In past events local therapists and special educators had the opportunity to learn from her thorough knowledge and experience in Special education and ABA.
